Dear Hillian,
I hope you are well and enjoying the sunshine!
As we reached the end of the first half of the Trinity Term and pupils departed for half-term, many had already completed a significant number of their public examinations. The School has taken on its familiar summer rhythm - moments of quiet focus in the exam halls balanced by the energy and activity of sport across the estate.
It has been a term marked by energy and achievement across the School, and it has been a particular pleasure to welcome so many Hillians back to the Hill from around the world in recent months. These occasions are a powerful reminder of the strength and continuity of our community across the generations, for which we remain most grateful. We very much hope to welcome many of you back to the Hill in the months ahead, including at the Back to the Hill Summer Gathering in June. I would also like to encourage you to join Kingham's official Alumni Facebook group, which has recently been launched: Kingham Hillians – Official Alumni Community. This private members’ group will be a space to share school news and events, as well as an opportunity for Hillians to connect and engage with one another within the community. Finally, I wanted to share that I will be leaving Kingham Hill School at the end of this term to take up a more senior position elsewhere. My final day at the School will be in early July. It has been a genuine privilege to work with the Hillian community, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Kingham Hill. I am enormously grateful for the warmth, support, and friendship shown to me during my time here, and I look forward to remaining connected with the School and its community in the years ahead.

Meet the Kingham Hill School Development Board We are delighted to announce the formation of the Kingham Hill School Development Board, bringing together a group of committed Old Hillians and supporters to help shape the future of the School.
The Board has been established to support an ambitious programme of development, with a particular focus on raising £12 million to expand funding for Founder's Pupils - ensuring that more young people can benefit from a Kingham Hill education, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Drawing on a wide range of professional expertise and a shared connection to the School, the Board will play an important role in strengthening engagement across the Hillian community and supporting long-term philanthropic growth.

CCF Passing Out Parade

To end the half-term the CCF Passing Out Parade marked a proud occasion as our 3rd Form Cadets completed their first stage of training with Kingham Hill’s CCF Army and RAF sections. The parade celebrated the Cadets’ personal growth, following their recent Recruits Camp.
Families, staff, and peers attended to witness the smart turnout, and we were honoured to welcome Foundation Trustee and Army Nurse, Debra Ritsperis, to inspect the Contingent and present a series of awards to Cadets who demonstrated outstanding performances during their training. It was a moment of pride for all involved and a fitting recognition of the hard work put in by both the Cadets and the staff who support them.
Congratulations to all our Cadets on their achievements who we look forward to seeing continue to develop as confident, capable leaders through their involvement in the CCF.

Quiz Team Achieves National Success

Kingham Hill is celebrating a remarkable achievement after its 1st Team quizzers recently finished third in the Schools Challenge National Finals. This was an exceptional result against some of the largest and most academically selective schools in the country.
The team, Amy, Finlay, Gabriel and Herbie, demonstrated outstanding knowledge, composure and teamwork throughout the national competition, representing both themselves and the school with distinction. All four pupils are members of the school’s Octagon Academic Society and have been regular attendees at the weekly Quiz Club sessions for between five and seven years. Their success marks a significant milestone in Kingham Hill’s history and reflects the strong culture of intellectual curiosity and academic enrichment fostered across the school.
The Schools Challenge competition follows a format similar to University Challenge, with teams competing on the buzzer to answer starter questions before progressing to bonus rounds requiring deeper subject knowledge and collaborative thinking.

Hillian Returns to Inspire Lower Sixth On Placement Years

Just before the half-term break, Hillian, Charlie Megson (2018-2023) returned to Kingham Hill to speak with Lower Sixth pupils about the value of placement years as he nears the end of his own successful year in industry with Unilever. Charlie, who attended Kingham Hill from 3rd Form through to Sixth Form and served as Head Boy, is currently studying Business Management at Lancaster University. He will return to university in September to complete his degree after spending a year working as a Global Assistant Marketing Manager for Persil’s “Dirt is Good” global masterbrand team.
Speaking candidly, Charlie explained what a placement year is - a paid year of full-time work built into a university degree, and why he believes it can be an invaluable experience for students. He tackled several common misconceptions, emphasising that placements are not just for business students, that employers do not expect applicants to have perfect grades, and that placement years are paid opportunities which enhance, rather than delay, future career prospects.

We are launching the 'Kingham 10' Alumni Group with a Social in London. If you have left Kingham within the last 10 years join us for a relaxed evening to reconnect and reminisce.
Whether you’re catching up with old friends, seeing familiar faces, or reconnecting with people you may have lost touch with, we’d love to see you there.

Back to the Hill Summer Gathering - Saturday 20th June 2026
We are delighted to invite you back to Kingham Hill for our Summer Gathering, a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends, explore the School, and enjoy a day full of shared memories.
