Dear Hillian,
I am writing to let you know that, after three years of dedicated service, Mr Pete Last, Head of Kingham Hill School, has decided to retire.
During his time at Kingham Hill, Mr Last has served the school with great faithfulness, generosity of spirit and deep dedication. He has shown a profound commitment to pupils, staff and the wider community, and his contribution to the life of the school has been greatly valued. Over the past three years, Mr Last has played a key role in the development of Kingham Hill, offering leadership, encouragement and care across all aspects of school life. He has worked closely with colleagues, supported pupils and families, and helped to sustain the distinctive ethos of Kingham Hill. I know that many within our community will be grateful for all he has brought to his role.
We will now begin the process of recruiting Mr Last’s successor to join Kingham Hill in January 2027. As this work progresses, we will ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to support the school through this period of transition. Our priority throughout will be to provide continuity and stability for pupils, staff and families, and to approach the months ahead with care and thoughtful planning. We will, of course, keep the community informed as plans develop and as there is more information to share.
There will be an opportunity in due course to recognise and thank Mr Last properly for his service to Kingham Hill. In the meantime, I know many of you will wish to join me in expressing sincere gratitude for his leadership, commitment and care for the school community, and in wishing him every blessing and happiness in retirement.
With best wishes, Areti Bizior
Warden, Dean Close Foundation
