Friday 8th August 2025

Dear Hillian
Since the last newsletter, we have enjoyed a busy and celebratory end to the academic year. Highlights have included Sports Day, the Upper Sixth Leavers' Tea Leavers’ and a particularly memorable Speech Day.

This year’s Speech Day featured inspiring addresses from our Headmaster, Pete Last, and Emma Taylor, Warden of the Dean Close Foundation, marking our formal joining of the Dean Close Foundation. Both speakers recognised the values that are central to Kingham Hill—faith, service, and community—and how these are shared deeply across the Foundation. Their words offered a thoughtful and optimistic vision for our future within this wider family of schools.

As we look ahead, I’m delighted to share that younger alumni are already playing a key part in shaping that future. We’ve had a fantastic response to our Kingham 10 Advisory Board initiative, with several enthusiastic Hillians stepping forward to help guide alumni engagement for the next generation. In addition, four new Alumni Ambassadors have come on board, helping to organise regional events and extend our network across the UK and beyond.

With term now concluded, our pupils are enjoying a well-earned summer break—and we’re keeping fingers crossed for excellent public exam results in August.
It’s always a pleasure to welcome alumni back to the Hill, and several of you have visited in recent weeks. Whether reconnecting in person or exchanging stories from afar, I’m constantly reminded of the warmth, loyalty, and reach of our Hillian community.

Looking ahead, the Hillian AGM will take place on Saturday 13th September, from 10:00 to 11:45 AM in the Sixth Form Centre or online via Google Meet.

If you would like to attend the AGM (either in person or online) please click here to complete an rsvp form and confirm your attendance.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest from Hillians who would like to join the Hillian Committee—a great way to help steer the future of alumni engagement and ensure the continued vitality of our community. We are particularly looking to appoint a new Treasurer, a voluntary role involving approximately 2–3 hours per week. If you are interested in contributing your time and experience to support the next phase of Hillian growth, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Kind regards,

Andrew

School News

Upper Sixth Leavers' Tea
From left to right: Andrew Mitchell (Alumni Engagement and Development Lead), Mark Amis, Ellie Copsey, Pete Last (Head), and Josh Le Feuvre.

Hillians Mark Amis, Ellie Copsey, and Josh Le Feuvre returned to Kingham Hill to join Sixth Formers at the Upper Sixth Leavers’ Tea, where they warmly welcomed the soon-to-be alumni into the Hillians community. They shared personal reflections on life after Kingham Hill, offering insight, encouragement, and connection. It was a fitting and memorable way to mark the transition from pupil to alumnus.

With 2025 Yearbooks in hand, each leaver received a beautifully engraved fountain pen, crafted from wood sourced on the Hill - a fitting gift for signing well-wishes and farewells.

Alumni Activities: How to get Involved

Alumni Ambassador Programme

The Alumni Ambassador Programme is a global initiative to bring alumni together from across the world.

We are particularly interested in Alumni who want to represent the 1990's and then the early 2000's.

We are looking for individuals to lead regional, school year and interest-specific groups related to sports or other shared passions.

As an Ambassador, you’ll be responsible for hosting at least one event per year; this could be a casual meet-up at a local pub, a virtual gathering, or any other creative event that fosters connection within your alumni group.

If you’re interested in becoming an Alumni  Ambassador to help build these connections, please reach out to Alumni Engagement & Development Lead, Andrew Mitchell, who will be happy to schedule an online meeting to discuss the programme in more detail, including guidance on setting up a group and event ideas.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you’ll consider getting involved.

Kingham 10 Alumni Advisory Board

Are you a Hillian aged approximately 30 or under? Do you want to shape the future of our alumni community and help younger Hillians stay connected across the globe?

We’re launching the Kingham 10 Alumni Advisory Board – a new initiative for younger alumni that will help guide and support the School’s alumni engagement efforts.
As a member of the Hillian 10 Alumni Advisory Board, you will:
  • Contribute to events, communications, and initiatives aimed at recent leavers.
  • Connect with a network of fellow alumni in their teens, 20s, and early 30s.
  • Support the development of global alumni ambassadors.
  • Act as a representative and ambassador for your peer group and year.
  • Offer strategic insights to ensure alumni engagement remains relevant to your generation.
The Board will meet online once per term, with flexibility for additional collaboration as needed. Members typically serve a two-year term, and a Chair will be elected from among the Board. The Chair will also sit on the broader Hillian Committee, ensuring younger alumni voices are heard across the alumni programme.

If you’re interested in joining the Kingham 10 Alumni Advisory Board please reach out to Alumni Engagement & Development Lead, Andrew Mitchell, who will be happy to schedule an online meeting to discuss the programme in more detail, including guidance on setting up a group and event ideas.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you’ll consider getting involved.

Recollections and Reunions

We’re inviting all Hillians to share their fondest memories of their time at Kingham Hill—whether it’s a standout story, a treasured photo, or highlights from recent meetups with fellow alumni. These contributions help keep the spirit and legacy of our community alive. Please send your reminiscences, photos, or details of alumni gatherings to Andrew Mitchell.

Please note that all submissions will be reviewed, and publication will be at the discretion of the editor.
