Dear Hillian,
In his introduction to the latest edition of our termly school magazine (please click on the image below to take a look), our Head, Pete Last, noted that one idea permeated through every story: connection. From the first steps of 1st Form on their South Wales residential, forging bonds through adventure and teamwork, to the senior pupils mentoring their peers in The Hub, Kingham Hill continues to be a place where relationships, collaboration, and shared experiences flourish.
Our community has also reached outwards: pupils have supported local initiatives, contributed to international charity projects, and marked historical anniversaries with respect and reflection. In every achievement - academic, artistic, sporting, or social - the underlying theme remains the same: the strength, inspiration, and joy we discover when we connect.
The Kingham Hill community has shown that connection is more than a word - it is the heart of our school life.
These connections do not end at the school gates or with the close of a term. They become part of a much wider Kingham Hill story, carried forward by generations of alumni who share the same foundations of friendship, curiosity, service, and belonging. To be part of the wider alumni community is to remain connected to this living network of shared experience - a place where past and present meet, where support, inspiration, and opportunity continue to flow, and where the values nurtured at Kingham Hill endure long after pupils leave the Hill.

 Jonathan Bland-Hawthorn (Plymouth & Greenwich) – Astronomy Trailblazer
We’re thrilled to celebrate alumnus Jonathan Bland-Hawthorn (Joss), one of the world’s top 25 astronomers and a recent inductee into the American Academy of Arts & Sciences at Harvard.
Joss continues to make global waves in astronomy. Earlier this month, he co-signed an open letter to the Chilean Government alongside Nobel Laureates, urging the relocation of a planned industrial complex that threatens the pristine dark skies of ESO’s Paranal Observatory - home to some of the world’s most advanced telescopes, including the Very Large Telescope and the upcoming Extremely Large Telescope.
A proud supporter of Kingham Hill, Jonathan was honoured on our Veritas Science Building in 2015. His work exemplifies how our alumni are making an impact on a global scale, from cutting-edge research to safeguarding the future of astronomy.

1886 Society Lunch - Saturday 7th March 2026, 12.30pm
We are grateful to all those leaving a Legacy to Kingham Hill School. Those doing so are invited to join the 1886 Society, a special group of alumni and supporters who share in the vision of sustaining the School's legacy. Members are invited to an annual Society lunch offering an opportunity to connect with fellow alumni and school leadership. Contact Andrew Mitchell for further details.

Bradford House Reunion: Saturday 26th September 2026 Kingham Hill and Liz Herringshaw (Hillian Committee Member and Bradford House Parent 1981-2002) are hosting a reunion for those who lived at Bradford House between September 1981 and July 2002. Family members are also welcome.

Become an Alumni Ambassador
|
Become an Alumni Ambassador and lead a regional, school year or interest-specific group related to sports or other shared passions.
As an Ambassador, you’ll be responsible for hosting at least one event per year; this could be a casual meet-up at a local pub, a virtual gathering, or any other creative event that fosters connection within your alumni group.
