Cancer Prevention:
Practical Actions You Can Take Today

Cancer prevention can feel overwhelming — especially for individuals facing a diagnosis, caring for a loved one, or navigating survivorship. While not all cancers can be prevented, research shows that certain behaviors and informed decisions can help reduce risk and support long-term health.

Prevention is not about blame or perfection. It’s about empowerment, access to accurate information, and progress over time.

At Bag It, we believe prevention, education, and support go hand in hand. By connecting people with trusted resources and practical tools, we aim to support informed decisions and healthier futures — and empower people to take small, meaningful steps.

What Does Cancer Prevention Mean?
Cancer prevention focuses on reducing risk where possible through lifestyle choices, early detection, and informed decision-making. These efforts not only support long-term health but can also help improve outcomes and quality of life.

Bag It News

14th Annual Escape to THRIVE Leadership Conference
Bag It proudly hosted our 14th Annual Escape to THRIVE Leadership Conference for Cancer Advocates last month! Despite a winter storm impacting much of the country, we welcomed 28 advocates representing 14 different cancer types to Tucson for this one-of-a-kind opportunity to pause, connect, and collaborate across advocacy spaces.

Participants traveled from multiple states - and even Canada - to engage in interactive sessions focused on bridging gaps between communities, navigating cancer policy, and building resilience in advocacy work. This diverse, passionate group quickly formed meaningful bonds as they tackled complex issues and identified next steps for collective advocacy.

Stay tuned for dates and details for our 15th Annual Escape to THRIVE Conference - we can’t wait to gather again.

Partner Highlight

We’re proud to partner with the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR), an organization dedicated to cancer prevention through research, education, and evidence-based guidance. AICR provides trusted nutrition and lifestyle content that is included in one of the publications found inside our Bag It Bags — helping ensure patients and caregivers receive practical, research-backed information at a critical time.

Through their work, AICR empowers individuals to make informed choices related to diet, physical activity, and overall health, reinforcing the important role prevention plays across the cancer continuum.

We’re grateful for their partnership and shared
commitment to education that supports long-term well-being.
