Men's Health Awareness

June is Men's Health Month

Did you know men are more likely to be diagnosed with—and die from—many types of cancer than women? This month, we're encouraging men to take charge of their health through regular checkups, cancer screenings, and healthy lifestyle choices. If you or a man in your life is facing a cancer diagnosis, Bag It is here with tools to help you feel informed, organized, and empowered.

Men are more likely than women to be diagnosed with cancer and have a higher mortality rate. The most common cancers affecting men in the U.S are Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, Bladder and Melanoma.

Early detection is key. Men often delay routine checkup or ignore early symptoms. Regular screenings can catch issues before they become serious.

Partner Spotlight

June is Uterine Cancer Awareness Month, a perfect time to highlight Bag It’s partnership with SHARE Cancer Support and their uterine/endometrial cancer program. This special bag, which was recently updated, provides an important resource for those impacted by uterine cancer.

SHARE Cancer Support is a national, peer-led nonprofit organization that supports and educates anyone who has been diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancers and provides outreach to the general public about signs and symptoms.

SHARE’s uterine cancer program, established in 2020, is a leading resource for education and support for this disease, the most frequently diagnosed of all gynecologic cancers.  SHARE offers a wide range of support groups that provide peer-to-peer support and shared experiences; participants can pick from eight different groups to find one that fits most closely with their needs. SHARE’s Support Line, also led by peers, helps callers by answering questions, talking about treatments and helping them sort through options. SHARE’s educational programs, led by leading physicians, offer information on a large range of topics; all webinars are recorded and are available on demand. Additional uterine cancer programs are held throughout the year. SHARE’s website provides up-to-date medical information about uterine cancer. SHARE also offers several support and education programs in Spanish and Chinese.
