February 2023
February 14, 2023    Happy Valentine's Day!!
Wetlands Feb 14 2023

It’s hard to believe that the time has finally come! With conflicting emotions, I can share with you all that, after 11.5 years here at Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area, I am soon to retire.  My last day of work here as Administrative Assistant will be Friday, February 24th

I can’t begin to define how much my years here at CVWMA have meant to me and it is with both sadness and excitement I look ahead to the next phase of life. I’m so grateful for the experience of working together with the CVWMA Board and all my wonderful co-workers over the years and will miss you all! I’ve had the opportunity to interact with numerous researchers and organizations. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with the public, both locals and visitors, in a wide variety of ways. I must say that I am always so impressed by the generosity of those who volunteer their time and efforts, or who are able to donate vital funds, to support our mission to manage the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area for conservation and natural species diversity through active habitat and wildlife management, research and education.

I’m very happy to introduce Alyson Brda, who will be taking up the position of Office Administrator here at the CVWMA administration office.  I’ve had the pleasure of working/training with Alyson since December and I know she’ll be a valuable and welcome addition to the staff.

I’ll look forward to meeting some of you on the CVWMA trails in future, instead of the office!

Smiles!
Pamela Sabo
Administrative Assistant to the Head of Conservation Programs

Meet Our New Office Administrator at CVWMA!
Alyson BrdaAlyson
Office Administrator

Hello to everyone, my name is Alyson! I grew up in 100 Mile House BC and have enjoyed living and working in many beautiful places in BC over the years. My family and I now love living and recreating around our beautiful home in Kitchener.

I am a graduate of the Recreation, Fish and Wildlife program at Selkirk College in Castlegar and have been fortunate to build on my schooling over the years working a range of jobs including, BC Parks Park Facility Operator, Backcountry Park Ranger, and environmental technician. Working seasonally in the field gave me an opportunity to also build skills in other areas like customer service, office administration and management, and took me to work in a financial institution. I completed my Investment Funds in Canada certification in 2018 and worked in finance with the public and small businesses providing lending and financial advice.
I am very excited to have recently joined the CVWMA team and have had the pleasure of working with Pamela Sabo to fill the position of Office Administrator. Being able to be part of this team and this amazing management area and wetlands is a privilege. I am looking forward to what lies ahead!

Away from work, you will find me outside exploring with my 2 dogs and boyfriend. During the summer I enjoy fishing, canoeing, boating, camping, mountain biking, and hiking and in the winter, splitboarding, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. If I am by the water, I am always happy! The Creston Valley has so much to offer, and we are so fortunate to call this valley home.

I am looking forward to meeting new faces in the office, on the trails in the CVWMA, and around the Kootenays!
