I'm sure we are all waiting patiently (or maybe not-so-patiently?) for some green to sprout up from beneath the blanket of snow that we received so late in the winter.
 
Many of us were duped into believing Mother Nature was going to bestow a completely beautiful mild 2018-19 winter on us until..... she APRIL FOOLED us - IN FEBRUARY!
 
The hint of warmth in the sunshine today is giving hope, though, that by April we truly will have Spring!!

THE SWANS have been spending time at Duck Lake
 
Both Tundra and Trumpeter Swans have been spending time on Duck Lake and the south end of Kootenay Lake this winter. More than 200 Trumpeter Swans were spotted on the north end of Duck Lake on Friday, March 2nd.

This is a new custom-built bat condo! With the eventual removal of the old Interpretation Centre building, this structure has been built to provide an alternative "home" for the bats that have been utilitzing the old building over the years.  We had success with a similar project south of Duck Lake and are hoping this one will be successful too. The condo will be erected in Corn Creek Marsh as soon as the weather permits. The interior of the condo can house over 5,000 bats and was designed to provide space for our small species of bats such as the Yuma and little brown myotis, as well as the larger species such as the Townsend's big-eared bat and big brown bat.
 
Fishing, Hunting and Boat Storage permits expire March 31,2019
A reminder that access permits for Fishing, Hunting and Boat Storage will expire on
March 31, 2019.
2019 - 2020 fishing or hunting permits can be purchased as of April 1st, 2019 online at our website by clicking this link Fish / Hunt Permits or by attending the CVWMA Administration Office at 1874 Wildlife Road, West Creston during regular business hours (as shown in sidebar).
 
 
BOAT STORAGE PERMITS  - PLEASE NOTE!
Boat Storage permit issuance is capped at 50 due to space limitations at Sirdar point (this is the only area where boat storage is permitted on CVWMA).  Current boat storage permit holders have first option to renew their permits for the 2019-20 year and are strongly encouraged to renew their permits prior to March 31st,2019.  Any permits not renewed by current permit holders March 31st will be made available to the general public. After April 1st, boats left at the storage area without a valid 2019-20 permit decal displayed on them will be subject to removal by CVWMA staff and a $100 recovery fee.  Boat storage permitsdecals for 2019 - 2020 can be purchased by current holders, by March 31st, at the CVWMA Administration Office, 1874 Wildlife Road, West Creston, during regular business hours (as shown in sidebar)
