Christmas Spectacular "A Christmas to Believe In"
Boys Home held "A Christmas to Believe In" on Friday, December 14, 2018. Students, staff, and members of the local community were in attendance.
"A Christmas to Believe In" is the story of a teenager, who has never heard of the Christmas story, finding belief in Christ. Set in modern times, the teenager becomes curious about the meaning of Christmas. He learns about the angel Gabriel, Zechariah, Elizabeth, and the miracles of God that led to the Virgin Mary becoming the Mother of Jesus Christ. The teenager becomes very nervous for Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus as he learns of King Herod's evil plot to be the "King of Kings." The teen celebrates as they find safety by fleeing Israel and becoming refugees in Egypt until the angel tells them it is safe to return. At the end of the play, the teenager decides that he does believe the story and knows that Christ will always be with him. With his newfound Christmas spirit, he leads the Christmas carolers in song.
Jacy Burdette, English and theater teacher, said she plans to continue the Christmas play next year. She said she enjoyed watching the students progress as they practiced and prepared. Jacy feels her theater program provides an outlet for those who are not participating in other activities. Jacy is proud of the students and their hard work, commitment, and team work. She said it is very rewarding to watch the students build self confidence and improve their communication skills and she is already looking forward to next year's production!
