A Note from Chaplain Anne Grizzle
Pastor Anne Grizzle
Chapel with staff and students
The voices heard in Chapel at Boys Home every Monday morning come from young and old, student, teacher, and houseparent. Among the most joyful are the voices of the students who are on the music team. As they lead the music, it fills not only the room but many hearts. One cottage per week is assigned to lead chapel. Several students read Scriptures for the day. Another student leads the prayer of the people which includes their own personal prayer but also invites prayers from throughout the congregation. A key reflection is often given by the chaplain, but this month student advisor Dennis Calhoun and teacher Gay Turner spoke about peace and patience. Hearing various voices reflect on Scripture enlivens the worship. Chapel is becoming a time to hear stories and learnings from the many voices of wisdom on the Boys Home campus.
In addition to various staff and student voices in chapel, four staff members have been active in helping the chaplain with spiritual life groups. Special projects staff member Louis Sarratt and his wife, Sandy have brought great musical talent to chapel. They have developed a group of students who help lead chapel in singing. Houseparent Austin Cole has co-led an advanced discipleship group of Bible study and prayer. Houseparent Linda Gordon has helped with Bible study in addition to leading Bible study in her cottage regularly.
We are so blessed to begin each Monday with Chapel! What wonderful way to begin a new week!
