Last month, IAALS and the Berkeley Judicial Institute hosted the fifth webinar in our Advancing Innovation webinar series. This webinar focused on best practices for building coalitions and developing strong relationships. These themes resonate so strongly for me as I look back over the first half of our anniversary year, including project highlights and events this spring, and the many partnerships and coalitions that have fueled IAALS’ work over the last two decades.
We heard from Rachael Zuppke, Research and Engagement Strategist at the Better Government Lab, about the roadblocks self-represented litigants face in court and how courts must adapt to better serve them. Mary-Margaret Pingree, Executive Director of Utah’s Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission, wrote about the role IAALS’ research and recommendations played in Utah updating their judicial performance evaluation.
These are the relationships that allow our research to go beyond the page and empower our partners to create meaningful, informed change across the country. This change cannot be achieved alone.
