Dear Friends,
Welcome to our Summer 2026 Newsletter.
I would like to begin by sharing Lorrae’s story. It is a powerful reminder that recovery from domestic abuse is possible with the right support. Her story also highlights the vital role played by Welcare staff, whose encouragement helped her gain the confidence to rebuild her life and pursue a career in which she draws on her own experiences to support others.
Lorrae’s journey reflects the determination we see in so many of the families we work alongside. You can also read personal stories from other families we have supported, including May & Jack, on our website.
Over recent weeks, we have been preparing year-end reports for the organisations who fund our services. I am delighted to share with you that during the past year we supported 828 families and secured £56,395 in grants and additional support to help improve the lives of children and families. You can read more about our impact data here. Our full Annual Report and Accounts for 2025–26 will be published at the end of July.
We are also planning to take part in The Big Give 2026 Christmas Challenge in December. This matched-funding campaign offers a fantastic opportunity to increase the impact of donations, as every public donation made during the campaign is doubled by The Big Give's champion funders. To take part we must first secure pledges for at least £1,000 before 5pm on 28th August with a minimum pledge of £100 (pledged funds would not be collected until January 2027). If you are interested in helping us unlock this future funding by making a pledge, please get in touch and I will share more about our Big Give Campaign in the Autumn.
Alongside encouraging new supporters, we are keen to build a prayerful community around our work with children and families and share prayer requests, reflections, and reasons to give thanks throughout the year. Protecting the privacy of the families we support remains paramount, and we never share names or identifying details but hope these regular updates will help strengthen the connection between our supporters and the work they make possible. If you would like to join our prayer network, please sign up here or share it with others who may be interested.
We have a number of supporter events taking place over the summer, including our team of 10 runners taking part in the London 10K on 12th July. If you would like to help cheer them on, please consider donating through our JustGiving page.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement and I hope you enjoy a wonderful summer

Welcare CEO
