Putting theology into practice in Pakistan |
| Langham Graduate Qaiser Julius is ‘putting his theology into practice’ by coordinating a compassion campaign to help hundreds of families devastated by flooding in recent weeks. |
Since the rains started in mid-June, more than 1,400 people have died in Pakistan. The UN estimates that one million homes have been destroyed.
Qaiser is the Director of Open Theological Seminary (OTS) in Lahore. Through its 'compassion campaign', the seminary is aiming to reach 1,000 families with food packs, mosquito nets and hygiene kits during the first phase.
Distribution has already begun in Sindh and Southern Punjab. Qaiser and his wife have also been visiting those affected by the floods.

A story of growth in Latin America
Last year in 15 countries across Latin America, over 3,000 people have been trained through the Langham Preaching programme. Despite huge challenges facing believers there and the effects of the pandemic, Langham Preaching has seen much growth.
A key element to the programme over there is the formation of preaching clubs ('escuelitas') where 7-10 people gather regularly for ongoing mentoring and sermon practice before even attending Langham Preaching training sessions.
Find out more about exciting developments for Langham Preaching in Latin America by reading the article online. |

HM Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - 2022
We join with believers around the world in praising God for Queen Elizabeth's extraordinary life of service and her Christian witness.
Our founder John Stott was a Chaplain to the Queen for a number of years, and even preached to the royal household. Many will remember fondly her speeches on Christmas Day, which spoke of her trust in Jesus.
We pray on for the wider royal family and all those who mourn at this time. |
Powerful book on the Trinity released in Arabic
The Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut, Lebanon recently hosted the launch of the Arabic edition of 'God With Us and Without Us', by Dr Imad Shehadeh. Langham published the English version in 2020.
In the book, Dr Shehadeh explains the inevitability of the Trinity and removes stumbling blocks for readers who hold to the 'Absolute Oneness of God.' You can buy the English version of the book on Langham Literature's website. |

Dear
One possible observation of the recent outpouring of grief is that people recognise how, despite the pressures of office, Queen Elizabeth exhibited the godly requirement to ‘act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God’. These are so obviously missing in many areas of national and international life and leadership that it’s encouraging to acknowledge their continuing public recognition and the appreciation of the contrast with more usual behaviour. These attributes gave the most eloquent testimony to Her Majesty’s living faith. And there’s the challenge! Each of our Christmas messages won’t get such prominence or circulation (!) but we can still expect those attributes to be recognised should we display them as we commit to living out our own Christian faith in our day to day lives. After all, they are the ‘requirements’ set out by our God (‘What does the Lord require of you…?’ Micah 6v8). In as much as our late Queen was admired for these qualities, we need to sense the rebuke if we are not. This eNews shares many more examples of lives of faith ‘lived out’ which are worthy of our respect and reflection. Thank you on their behalf for your generous support and encouragement. Do please spare the time to come and meet such folk on our monthly ‘Langham Live’ interview and prayer.
With thanks and Christian greetings, as ever
