'Privilege to train Ukrainian students scattered by war'

Ukraine Preaching Training zoom screenshotThe war in Ukraine is becoming less prominent in our UK news as the weeks go by. But the horror and trauma is continuing, and Christian students are desperate to grapple with God’s word at this time.

Mark Meynell, Langham Preaching’s coordinator for Europe and the Caribbean, has been training students scattered because of the war how to preach the book of Revelation.

25 - 30 students attended the zoom sessions, with some having fled to Far East Asia.

Mark said it was a privilege to teach the students who are processing such great horror and trauma that "God is on the throne despite the chaos".

Dear

Great to be at the Keswick Convention and good to meet those who were able to make it to our stand at Base Camp. Mark Armstrong will look forward to meeting folk shortly if you are at the Bangor Worldwide event – do drop by if you can! An interesting topic of conversation those few weeks ago was the joint use of the expression, ‘getting all the Big Calls right’! This expression was used by those cabinet members trying to support the PM ahead of the confidence vote and also by those commenting on Ben Stokes’ early record as England’s cricket captain. Not to answer in the same vein (one is tempted to respond, ‘those would be honesty, integrity, transparency, with a focus on the ‘common good’? – or perhaps, ‘acting justly, showing mercy and walking humbly with our God’?) but to acknowledge that summer holidays, if you are able to partake, should give the opportunity for each of us to reflect, ‘are we getting the Big Calls right’? My prayer is that the incredible examples in this month’s eNews will aid and challenge our own reflection and action. The Langham leaders and those they mentor, are worthy of our generous, prayerful and financial support as they challenge many others to focus on the ‘Big Calls’ and get them right in some extraordinary situations…

With thanks and Christian greetings, as ever

Simon Foulds
