Little Compton Wellness Center 
In addition to all of the great weekly exercise classes we offer weekly at the Little Compton Wellness Center, there are also some monthly activities you might want to add to your calendar. We also offer by appointment a wide variety of self-care services with our wonderful practitioners. 

Computer & Smart Phone Help: Join our monthly technology help session on the third Wednesday of every month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Whether you’re struggling with issues on your laptop or want to gain a better understanding on how to use your smartphone, we can help. For more information, please call 401-592-0400 or email office@lcwellness.org. The next session will be held on March 18 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. 

Cooking Club: On the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., a group of local foodies gathers at the Wellness Center for a delicious potluck dinner. Each month they pick a different theme from recipes sourced from cookbooks at the Brownell Library. It's a great way to meet new friends, try delicious dishes and find new recipes. For more information, please email marshariccardi3@gmail.com. The next Cooking Club event will be held on March 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. 

Podiatry Clinic: The last Thursday of the month is when Podiatrist Dr. Alan Lechan visits the Little Compton Wellness Center for his Podiatry Clinic. Please make an appointment with his answering service directly at 508-679-6169. His next Clinic will be held on March 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Parkinson's Support Group: Anyone with a Parkinson’s Diagnosis or other neurodegenerative condition is welcome to attend. This group meets on the second Thursday of the month from 3 to 4:15 p.m. The Rev. Virginia Army facilitates this discussion group. The next Parkinson’s Support Group meeting will be held on March 12.

The Caregivers’ Support Group: Anyone providing care for a loved one with any type of medical condition is welcome to attend. Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month from 2 to 3:15 p.m., The Rev. Virginia Army facilitates this discussion group. The next Caregivers’ Support Group meeting will be held on March 4. 

Self Care Appointments: If you want to incorporate more self-care into your schedule, but aren't sure where to begin, we can help. From self-care consultations to massage, holistic healing, hypnotherapy and one-on-one health coaching, we are fortunate to have a wonderful group of practitioners at the Little Compton Wellness Center who can assist you with your wellness needs.

Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust
The Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust has completed its Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2024-2025, and it is now available to the public. It may be viewed at www.lcact.net or obtained at the Brownell Library or Town Hall.

Film Screening and Q&A: Between Moon Tides
Film enthusiasts, nature lovers, and the public are invited to a special screening of Between Moon Tides, an award-winning documentary filmed in Warren, RI, that follows the saltmarsh sparrow, a small bird whose coastal habitat is threatened by rising seas and climate change.

When: Friday, March 13, 2026 at 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Where: Little Compton Community Center, Little Compton, RI
Cost: Free and open to the public

URI Filmmaker Jason Jaacks will attend and participate in a live Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into the making of the film and the environmental issues it explores. The screening and discussion offer an engaging evening of film, meaningful dialogue, and collective reflection on the challenges facing coastal ecosystems and the urgency of climate action.

About This Event
Sakonnet Preservation Association (SPA) is pleased to host this important documentary screening as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental education and community engagement. By bringing together film, expert discussion, and local dialogue, SPA aims to deepen public understanding of the interconnections between climate change, coastal conservation, and wildlife protection.

Brownell Library 
Here's what's happening at the Brownell Library in March:

Artist of the Month for March is the Elliott-Krasnow family - Sally Elliott, Darif Krasnow, and their kids, James and Avery, love to create as individuals as well as collaboratively. Sally makes both hand-built and wheel-thrown functional ceramics that are inspired by moments of awe, wonder and watching her children explore the natural world. Her photography, watercolors and prints are influenced by the dynamic nature of beaches, mountains and the forest. James sculpts and draws whimsical creatures inspired by prehistoric animals, current animals and his imagination. Avery enjoys drawing and painting people. Darif writes music and plays the guitar. Together, they enjoy collaborating on drawings, songs and ceramics.

Little Compton Writing Circle / Tuesday, March 3rd and 17th at 5:30 PM - Adult writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome! 

“More than Medicare” Help Sessions – Registration Required / Monday, March 9th - Morning appointments 

It’s more than just Medicare. Did you know that if you have a Medicare Advantage plan now you can still switch to a different advantage plan? Open season hasn’t ended if you are already enrolled. Or do you think you might be eligible for heating assistance or some other type of state or federal assistance program? Find out. Make an appointment with Carla, a representative from the United Way organization The Point for a free, confidential session to get help with these decisions. Narcan Training – Tiverton & Little Compton Prevention Coalition / Thursday, March 12 @ 11 AM and Saturday, March 14 @ 1 PM - All ages welcome for Narcan training offered by Polly Allen of the Newport County Prevention Coalition. Learn how to administer Narcan safely and save a life. Register at allen@riprevention.org

Intermediate Embroidery – Registration Required / Saturday, March 21st @ 10:30 AM - With Karen Katin, owner of The Stitchery in Portsmouth. For those who have already learned the basics of embroidery, join Karen Katin from the Stitchery to learn some intermediate level stitches such as the lazy daisy, whipped wheel and woven wheel. Put them all together to create a flower bouquet of stitches. All supplies and instruction will be provided. 

Needlepoint Drop-In / Fridays at 1 PM on March 6, 13, 20 and 27 - Bring your needlework project or stop by to learn more about it. Take time in the day to work on your project and chat with others who have the same hobby. Any sort of needleworkers are welcome to this drop in session.

All the Genres Book Club / Tuesday, March 3rd @ 4 pm and 6 PM - February’s book was James by Percival Everett – Stop by the library to pick up a copy. All are welcome!

Senior Services Office Hours / every Monday from 1 pm - 3 pm - Little Compton's Senior Services will be at the library on Mondays from 1:00 - 3:00 to meet with any senior in town. Their job is to help connect seniors to the services they need. Stop by for help with a problem or just to introduce yourself and chat. 
Spice of the Month Club / March's spice is Minced Onion - Stop by and pick up a sample with information about the spice and a couple of recipes to try. Make a favorite recipe or try one of ours and let us know what you think of the spice. Available as long as supplies last.

March Take and Make Craft for Kids and Tweens / Make a Green Turtle Fortune Teller - Stop in to pick up this month's Take & Make craft as supplies are limited!
