How You Can Help Pollinators Thrive in Little Compton
Monarch butterflies, native bees, and other pollinators are in serious decline—but here in Little Compton, we can help turn things around, one yard at a time. Pollinators are essential for healthy ecosystems and food crops, yet habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change are causing their numbers to drop dramatically. Fortunately, solutions can start right outside your door.

You can help by planting native species such as milkweed, bee balm, and purple coneflowers, which provide critical food and habitat. Avoiding pesticides and herbicides is also important, as these chemicals are harmful to pollinators and many other beneficial insects. Even a small effort counts—whether it’s a garden bed, a roadside patch, or a few potted plants on a porch or balcony. And by spreading the word to neighbors and friends, we can grow a network of pollinator-friendly spaces across our town.

Little Compton is joining the regional Pollinator Pathway, an initiative that connects communities through shared efforts to support pollinators. By participating, residents can create a healthier, more vibrant landscape that benefits both wildlife and people.

To get involved or learn more, contact Barbara Rocha at whisperingbutterflies@yahoo.com or visit www.pollinator-pathway.org. Let’s make Little Compton bloom—for the butterflies, the bees, and for our future.
