'Church can be voice of hope
in Sri Lanka'
Nathanael Somanathan Last week, Langham Scholar Nathanael Somanathan spoke to Victoria Marsay, LPUKI's Media Producer, about the current crisis in his home country Sri Lanka. (Watch the interview online). The President recently resigned as a result of mass protests, as the country is suffering the worst economic crisis in its history.

But Nathanael - who is studying for his PhD at Birmingham University - says that the Church in Sri Lanka "can and will be the voice of hope for recovery and for change". He says it has been a beacon of light, in speaking truth to power and being a prophetic voice.

Sri LankaNathanael asks us to pray that it will be an alternative ideal for what leadership looks like, rather than mirroring the political system.

The Langham Scholars programme equips promising young leaders in the Majority World, like Nathan, who will return to their contexts to have an enormous impact in the Church and society at large. Read a recent article about the importance of theological education by Langham Scholars Director Riad Kassis.

Dear

I’m sure you’ve noticed, the trains are busier, roads more packed, airports at breaking point. We’ve become more active and I think this eNews amplifies this. There is a lot going on in Langham’s ministry and this is fundamentally down to your support of Langham in prayers and giving. Thank you. If you are encouraged - I hope so, please do think about giving and praying as we continue to grow this ministry we share in. If you haven't signed up to our monthly prayer guide please do - great for use privately but we are also finding churches using it as well.

Over this summer if you are travelling I hope you have safe and enjoyable trips. Remember - ready for when you are in those packed trains, traffic jams and queues, get your 'The Stott Legacy' podcast downloaded. Not only will 25 episodes get you through any queue, but you will also be heartened by what you listen to. People around you will be wondering how are they in this queue and smiling? Answer - because I support Langham Partnership.

Thank you, take care and have a great summer.

God bless,

Simon Foulds
