 | January 2026 Newsletter At Bow Valley Palliative, our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized palliative care and grief support to individuals and families throughout the Bow Valley. |
A note from our CEO:
As we say farewell to 2025, its highs and its lows, we excitedly welcome 2026, the Year of the Fire Horse. Officially beginning on February 17th, the Fire Horse symbolizes, energy, passion and a period of bold change – a time of social connections and action but with a mindful balance. Nothing could better describe the year ahead for Bow Valley Palliative.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary of becoming a charity, we embark on our biggest year yet in our ten-year history. As well as beginning construction on the Pestell Centre for Compassionate Care, our focus will be to engage further with our community and to launch our fundraising campaign to raise the funds needed to complete construction and open the building to the Bow Valley community in 2027.
There will be opportunities for personal and organizational level giving, community fund raising events organized in the community and other ways that we can all be part of building the future of palliative care, hospice, and grief in our community.

With the onset of the New Year, work has commenced with renewed vigour and an air of excitement as we complete the final steps ahead of starting construction. Volunteer led working groups are identifying staffing models for physicians, nursing, and allied health staff, as well as facility staff and the program and operations team. The new Centre will also see an expansion of opportunities for volunteers, building on existing roles to include new roles assisting with the operation of the facility and supporting visitors and families. If you have relevant experience and knowledge and are interested in joining a working group to help develop one of these models, please email info@bvpal.ca to let us know. New volunteer roles will be advertised later in the year as we finalize what will be needed and when. Stay tuned! | | | 2024-2025 Bow Valley Palliative Impact Report | | Bow Valley Palliative is proud to share our 2024–2025 Impact Report, presenting a reflection of another year supporting individuals and families across the Bow Valley with compassion, dignity, and community-centered care.
