From school vacation camp to our weekly games, there is something for everyone this April. Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, get active, or simply connect with neighbors, we invite you to join us! From our Annual Rummage Sale to the return of the Easter Spree, here is what is happening at your Community Center. 🏆 Special EventsTrivia Night: Friday, April 3 | 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM Gather your smartest friends for a night of obscure facts and friendly competition! Children’s Movie Night: Friday, April 3 | 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM A drop-off event for kids! We’ll have pizza, popcorn, and a family-friendly film. Easter Spree: Saturday, April 4 | 10:00 AM @ Veterans Field Our annual community celebration! Join us for the egg hunt and family festivities. Rummikub Afternoon: Monday, April 6 | Every first Monday of the month from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Bring your own set or use one of ours. Buy Nothing Clothing Exchange: Shopping: Monday–Thursday April 6–9, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Extended Hours: Friday April 10, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM This is a "take what you need, give what you can" community event. Volunteer Information Night: Thursday, April 9 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Curious about how you can give back? Join us to learn about the various ways to help out at the LCCC. Circle of Friends: Saturday, April 11 | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM People living with disabilities and their caregivers are invited to join us for our monthly gathering and community building! Coffee & Pastry with Public Safety: Tuesday, April 14 | 10 AM – 12:00 PM Join us in the dining room for coffee & pastry, and good company! Please note the time change from our usual coffee & pastry gatherings. Volunteer Appreciation Night: Friday, April 17 | 5:30 PM – the fun runs out! A special thank you to the wonderful people who keep our center running! April Vacation Camp: April 20th–24th from 8:30AM–4:30PM | Keep the kids engaged and active during school vacation week! Our April Vacation Camp offers a mix of indoor and outdoor play, featuring fun and engaging STEM activities. LCCC Rummage Sale: Saturday & Sunday, April 25–26 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Our legendary sale is back! Come hunt for treasures and support the center.

WHAT’S UP WITH THE TICKS?? The Little Compton Garden Club is sponsoring URI’s The Tick Guy, Dr. Tom Mather speaking on “What’s Up With Ticks”, Wednesday April 15, 2026 at 5:30PM. In Rhode Island, it used to be mostly about the blacklegged ticks (deer ticks) and the threat of Lyme disease, but things are changing rapidly and not for the better! New tick are moving in bringing new diseases. Learn practical solutions to help you practice being TICK SMART! The program is free and open to the public. Garden Goods Recycling Sale at the Plant Faire - Saturday May 2nd At the May 2nd Plant Faire at Veterans' Field, the Little Compton Garden Club will be holding a recycling sale for used gardening goods: pots, planters, vases, books, hoses, tools -- anything related to gardening. COMMUNITY SHRED DAY Taxes are done so it is time to start spring cleaning out those file cabinets, drawers, and baskets of all your old papers and safely destroy them at our Community Shred Day. Join us on Saturday, May 9 th from 9-12, as St Andrew's and The United Congregational Church host our annual Community Shred Day in the St Andrew's parking lot. Come and view your old files, enter the truck and go through the shredding process right before your eyes! Donations of $5.00 per box to help defray the cost of the truck are encouraged and accepted. Sakonnet Preservation Event: A Special Evening to Learn About Bats | April 10 There's something magical about bats—these remarkable creatures navigate the night with precision, consume thousands of insects, and tell us so much about the health of our ecosystems. As bats emerge from hibernation this spring, it's the perfect time to learn more about these essential neighbors. On Friday, April 10, from 6–7 p.m., Sakonnet Preservation Association is hosting a free community presentation featuring Dr. Peter August, Professor Emeritus at the University of Rhode Island. Dr. August will share insights into global bat diversity, the annual cycles of our local bats, white-nose syndrome, and the economic value bats provide through pest control and pollination. Whether you're a long-time bat enthusiast or just curious about these often-misunderstood neighbors, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more. Led by experienced dry stone waller, Luke Driver, this 2.5-hour session will teach you the heritage and practical techniques of this centuries-old craft. You'll learn safety practices, basic repair techniques, how to identify and select stones, and the art of crafting cap-stones. Whether you're ready to lift stones or simply curious to learn, all skill levels and abilities are welcome—observers are encouraged too. Intro to Needle Felting – Registration Required / Saturday, April 11th at 10:30 AM - Join Karen Katin from The Stitchery, to learn how to needle felt wool onto fabric. Instruction, design planning, and execution will be included. All materials provided, along with a set bumblebee project, or if you are feeling a little creative, come up with your own. All supplies and instruction will be provided. Registration is required as space is limited – contact the library to register at 401 635 8562.
Needlepoint Drop-In / Fridays at 1 PM on April 3, 10, 17 and 24 - Bring your needlework project or stop by to learn more about it. Take time in the day to work on your project and chat with others who have the same hobby. Any sort of needleworkers are welcome to this drop in session.
Open Play with Simple Machines / Tuesday, April 21st from12 - 2 PM - Explore simple machines through play, observation, and conversation! Best for ages 3 & up
Casey Farm presents Project Chick! / Friday, April 24th at 1 PM: Visit us on Friday, April 11th at 1pm for a hands-on program to learn all about CHICKENS! There will be a slide show, a display full of different bird eggs, and the chance to meet a live Dominique chicken and hold a baby chick!
All the Genres Book Club / Tuesday, April 28th at 4 pm and 6 PM - April’s book is The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri - Stop by the library to pick up a copy. All are welcome!
Senior Services Office Hours / every Monday from 1 pm - 3 PM - Little Compton's Senior Services will be at the library on Mondays from 1:00 - 3:00 to meet with any senior in town. Their job is to help connect seniors to the services they need. Stop by for help with a problem or just to introduce yourself and chat.
Spice of the Month Club / April's spice is Dried Cilantro - Stop by and pick up a sample with information about the spice and a couple of recipes to try. Make a favorite recipe or try one of ours and let us know what you think of the spice. Available as long as supplies last.
April Take and Make Craft for Kids and Tweens / Paint a Wooden Egg - Paint is included. Stop in to pick up this month's Take & Make craft as supplies are limited! (Thank you to John Lint for providing the wood egg shapes)

We have passes to Boston's Museum of Fine Arts (Winslow Homer Exhibit), Plimoth Patuxet Museum, Hamilton Family Aquarium / Newport, Isabel Stewart Gardner Museum, Fall River Children's Museum, Little Compton Historical Society, the New Bedford Whaling Museum , Battleship Cove and Buttonwood Zoo. Our Library of Things has a food dehydrator, portable DVD players, a portable Induction Cooktop and a portable Bluetooth Soundbar - as well as NEW BOARD GAMES AND CARD GAMES, T-mobile hot spots, tools, a Film & Slide Scanner and lots of fun and educational kits for kids.
