CDKL5 Voices | January 2023
Webinar Update with Ultragenyx
Please join us as we welcome Ultragenyx for a webinar update on their potential 2023 IND (Investigational New Drug) filing for their UX055 gene therapy program for CDKL5 on February 13 at 2:00ET. Registration is required.
2022 was another robust year for CDKL5 research! Over the course of the year, progress was made in model development, biomarker identification, further understanding of the underlying mechanisms of CDD, and identification of potential therapeutic targets.
In addition, the International CDKL5 Clinical Research Network (ICCRN) validated a new outcome measure (CDD-Hand), published on quality of life, and collaborated with international partners on a landmark publication about consensus recommendations for the management of CDD.
Our Science Director, Heidi Grabenstatter, has summarized many of the year's publications for our community. See it here: CDKL5 Publications in 2022

Patient advocacy is at the heart of our mission for CDKL5. We know that it is critical for patient advocacy groups to have a seat at the table when discussions are happening about their disease. The IFCR is active with key stakeholders in our work for CDKL5.
At the end of last year, we attended the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies (OTAT) Patient-Focused Drug Development listening meeting - Patient Perspectives on Gene Therapy Products. We submitted written comments to support clinical trial design for disease-modifying treatments.
It has been far too long since the IFCR has gathered families together in person. So, let's meet up in 2023! Our Family Support Representatives are planning family gatherings around the USA.
Interested in getting together? Help us prepare by filling out the Meet Up Info Form (below). You don't need to make a firm commitment, just let us know if you are possibly interested in traveling to meet up with other CDKL5 families this year.

Save-the-Date The IFCR will host the International CDKL5 Family Conference in 2024!
In June 2022, an important collaborative publication was released entitled "International Consensus Recommendations for the Assessment
and Management of Individuals With CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder" and inside were recommendations for the management of individuals with
CDD with suggested timepoints for completion.
